The Piyawara story began in 2002 when the Hemas Group launched its CSR Initiative in partnership with the Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs.

The project was named ‘Piyawara’, signifying the initial steps taken by a child at the beginning of the journey through life. Its vision was to nurture children with good care and provide a solid foundation for life.

Big Heart


Launched as a project to mark the 50th anniversary of the Hemas flagship brand Baby Cheramy in 2012, the Big Heart Project partners with the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs to ameliorate the effects of poverty on a child’s right to education. After the 50th anniversary event, this project was handed over to the Hemas Outreach Foundation for continuity.
