It had been the same old story at temporary wooden shelters as the
war ended and there was a major influx of displaced men, women
and children to Vavuniya. They would not share those shelters with
others due to caste issues.
In the south, meanwhile, even after a preschool had been built and
was in operation, the local council had arbitrarily taken over the
premises for a vocational training centre.
Overcoming numerous hurdles, Piyawara has ventured forward
holding fast to its end goal of improving the lives of all little ones,
whatever race, religion, strata of life they are born to.
